I'D LIKE TO WELCOME EVERYONE IN THE AUDIENCE AND THOSE TUNING IN.

I WANT TO WISH YOU ALL A HAPPY NEW YEAR. HAPPY 2025.

HOPE EVERYONE HAD A WONDERFUL HOLIDAY VACATION BECAUSE WE HAVE WONDERFUL THINGS PLANNED FOR THIS CITY, AND I'M EXCITED ABOUT WHAT WE GOT PLANNED AND THE AMAZING THINGS WE GOT FOR US.

SO, LET'S GET THIS SHOW ON THE ROAD HERE. WE'RE GOING TO GET THINGS STARTED WITH AN INVOCATION BY COUNCIL MEMBER SABOL, FOLLOWED BY THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE LED TO US BY COUNCIL MEMBER DAWKINS.

LET'S GO AHEAD AND STAND. SORRY, MOLLY. AS WE GATHER TONIGHT, LET US OPEN OUR HEARTS AND MINDS TO THE WISDOM AND UNDERSTANDING NEEDED FOR THIS DISCUSSION.

MAY WE LISTEN WITH RESPECT, SPEAK WITH CLARITY, AND WORK TOGETHER WITH A SHARED PURPOSE TO FIND SOLUTIONS THAT SOLUTIONS THAT BENEFIT ALL.

JERRY. WE INVITED JERRY HERE THIS EVENING. I THINK WE RECOGNIZED THAT WE HAD HAD SOME TRASH SERVICE ISSUES OVER THE LAST FEW WEEKS.

AND SO, WE ASKED JERRY TO COME, AND I KNOW SHE SQUEEZED US IN HER SCHEDULE TO KIND OF GIVE US AN UPDATE ON WHAT HAPPENED OVER THE LAST FEW WEEKS AND KIND OF WHERE THINGS ARE RIGHT NOW. SO THAT'S THE THAT'S THE GIST OF IT. SO I'LL LET YOU KIND OF TAKE IT OVER.

OKAY. SO I BROUGHT WITH ME TONIGHT, TRAVIS BENSON, HE'S OUR OPERATIONS MANAGER OF OUR RESIDENTIAL TEAM.

SO FIRST OF ALL, THAT PICTURE THAT WHEN I CAME IN AND THE SNOW.

I REALLY FELT LIKE I WAS ENTERING INTO ENEMY TERRITORY BECAUSE THE SNOW IS NOT MY FRIEND.

SO WE'LL GET TO THE SNOW DELAYS RIGHT AFTER WE TALK ABOUT DECEMBER'S SERVICE ISSUES.

SO THE OVERALL REPUBLIC SERVICES DOES NOT ANTICIPATE THAT WE WOULD INCREASE THE AMOUNT OF GARBAGE THAT WE GOT IN THE MONTH OF DECEMBER.

SO I JUST WANT TO KIND OF SHARE SOME NUMBERS WITH YOU TO KIND OF GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF WHAT WE WERE FACING.

SO IN NOVEMBER, WE HAD 1832.6 TONS OF GARBAGE THAT CAME OUT OF THE CITY OF BEDFORD COMPARED TO 2023, WHICH WAS 1700 AND 1.2.

SO, IT'S INCREASED. AND YOU GUYS REALLY HAVEN'T GROWN HOUSE WISE.

LIKE, YOU KNOW, REALLY, YOU KNOW, IMPROVE, GROWN YOUR POPULATION A LOT.

SO RESIDENTIAL BUILDS. RIGHT. SO THIS IS JUST RESIDENTIAL.

SO IN DECEMBER WE ALWAYS EXPECT IT TO GO UP 100, MAYBE 150 TONS.

HOWEVER, THIS YEAR IT WENT UP 470 TONS. AND SO FROM NOVEMBER TO DECEMBER.

SO WHAT CAN THAT BE ATTRIBUTED TO? YEAH, I KNOW, I SEE, I SEE YOUR LOOK.

SO WHAT THAT CAN BE SO KIND OF HOW THAT EQUATES OUT JUST TO KIND OF GIVE YOU AN IDEA, 8 TO 10 TONS PER TRUCK.

SO WE BASICALLY WITH 400, YOU'RE TALKING 40 ADDITIONAL HAULS TO THE LANDFILL.

THAT'S A LOT. SO, YOU PUT IN THERE THE LEAVES AND, AND I KNOW EVERYBODY'S TIRED OF HEARING ME SAY, THERE'S A LOT OF BAD LEAVES OUT THERE. THERE REALLY IS A LOT OF BAD LEAVES OUT THERE. AND WHY IS THAT? WELL, WE STAYED WARM FOR A LONG TIME. AND SO, THE LEAVES DID NOT FALL.

AND THEN OVER THE COURSE OF ABOUT A WEEK, THEY ALL FELL.

AND PEOPLE LIKED TO BAG THEIR LEAVES INSTEAD OF MULCH THEM BACK INTO THEIR GRASS OR BLOW THEM INTO THE STREET, WHICH WE CERTAINLY DO NOT WANT THEM TO DO. HOWEVER, I DON'T LIKE TO PUT BAGGED LEAVES INTO THE LANDFILL BECAUSE THEY'RE GOING INTO A PLASTIC BAG. SO WE DO ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO MULCH THOSE LEAVES.

SO PEOPLE SAY, WELL, THERE'S 50 BAGS OF LEAVES AND THEN YOU'VE GOT TEN BAGS OF GARBAGE.

WE ARE ALWAYS GOING TO FOCUS ON THE TEN BAGS OF GARBAGE FIRST, ESPECIALLY ON YOUR FIRST CYCLE OF THE WEEK.

AND THEN SO WE'LL TAKE A FEW BAGS AND THEN THE NEXT SERVICE DAY WE TAKE A FEW BAGS, BUT 470 TONS OVERALL FOR THE MONTH OF AN INCREASE, THAT'S A PRETTY BIG INCREASE.

SO WE ALSO HAD A WET A LITTLE BIT OF A WET DECEMBER, WHICH DELAYS OUR LANDFILL TIME.

AND THEN SO WITH THE INCREASE IN LOADS GOING TO THE LANDFILL, THEY'RE GOING TO THE LANDFILL MORE THAN THEY NORMALLY WOULD.

YOU HAVE WET WEATHER. THERE'S MUDDY CONDITIONS AT THE LANDFILL, THE INCREASE IN TRUCKS THAT ARE GOING TO THE LANDFILL.

YOU HAVE LONGER LINES. SO WE WEREN'T PREPARED FOR THIS MUCH OF AN INCREASE.

AND THEN YOU PUT ON TOP OF THAT, YOU'VE GOT SOME NEW DRIVERS IN BEDFORD.

AND THEN ON TOP OF THAT, YOU'VE GOT PAID TIME OFF.

EVERYBODY WANTS TO BE OFF AT THE HOLIDAYS. AND SO WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE WHOLE PICTURE, IT WAS THE PERFECT STORM.

AND THAT'S REALLY AND TRULY WHAT IT WAS, THE PERFECT STORM.

NOT TO BRING UP THE FACT THAT WE JUST HAD AN ICE STORM AND SNOWSTORM, BUT WE DID.

THE CITY OF BEDFORD IS TWICE A WEEK SERVICE. SO I DID FIND IT NECESSARY TO SUSPEND SERVICE ON THURSDAY AND FRIDAY, KNOWING THAT WE WOULD BE BACK HERE ON MONDAY AND TUESDAY AND THAT EVERYBODY WOULD GET SERVICE.

WE DID HAVE TO FOCUS ON SOME OTHER CITIES THAT WERE ONE TIME A WEEK, BECAUSE OTHERWISE THEY WOULD HAVE TO WAIT A WHOLE WEEK.

YOU GUYS WERE ONLY DELAYED A COUPLE OF DAYS. SO WE WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET HERE UNTIL SATURDAY ANYWAY.

SO YOU PROBABLY ARE WONDERING WHEN IS SHE GOING TO GET TO THE HOW WE'RE GOING TO KEEP THIS FROM HAPPENING IN THE FUTURE? WELL, I CAN'T CONTROL THE WEATHER. BUT WE DO TRY TO COMMUNICATE AS QUICKLY AS WE KNOW.

I'M NOT THAT PERSON THAT LIKES TO TELL YOU ON WEDNESDAY.

WE'RE GOING TO CLOSE ON THURSDAY, AND SO WE'RE GOING TO PICK EVERYTHING.

YOU KNOW, I KIND OF LIKE TO RIDE IT OUT JUST A LITTLE BIT SO THAT WE'RE NOT COMMUNICATING A PLAN IN THE MORNING AND THEN AGAIN IN THE AFTERNOON, AND THEN AGAIN, THE NEXT MORNING, THE NEXT AFTERNOON.

SO I KIND OF HAVE TO LOOK AT IT. SO I COMMUNICATED AS QUICKLY AS I COULD ON WHAT THE PLAN WAS FOR BEDFORD.

ALL OF OUR ROUTES WERE CAUGHT UP. THIS WEEK WE'RE BACK TO NORMAL SERVICE.

EVERYTHING'S GOOD. WE ARE GOING TO BE LOOKING AT SOME ROUTING MAYBE MAKING SOME OF OUR LARGER ROUTES A LITTLE BIT SMALLER, AND THEN WE HAVE AN EXTRA ROUTE THAT IS JUST KIND OF A FLOATER ROUTE IN CASE SOMEBODY CALLS IN OR IN CASE WE HAVE AN INCREASE IN VOLUME. SO THAT'S KIND OF WHERE WE STAND.

AND I DO APOLOGIZE FOR WHAT HAPPENED IN DECEMBER.

I KNOW THAT LORI WAS REALLY TIRED OF EMAILING US AND GETTING THOSE CALLS AND I UNDERSTAND IT.

BUT AGAIN, I ONLY HAVE SO MANY TRUCKS AND I ONLY HAVE SO MANY PEOPLE.

AND WHEN YOU SEE THAT BIG OF AN INCREASE, I MEAN 470 TONS, THAT'S A LOT OF AN INCREASE OVER A MONTH.

SO ALL RIGHT, WELL I APPRECIATE I APPRECIATE YOU.

YOU KNOW, FIRST OFF, COMING AND COMING HERE TO OUR MEETING TO, TO DISCUSS THIS, THIS ISSUE AND, AND ALSO BEING FORTHRIGHT IN REALIZING THAT YOU GUYS WEREN'T PREPARED FOR, FOR THE AMOUNT OF GARBAGE AND TRASH THAT THAT WAS GENERATED.

TO YOUR POINT, I DO HAVE I DO HAVE SOME CONCERNS.

YOU KNOW, A COUPLE OF THEM AND YOU ALREADY HIGHLIGHTED ONE OF THEM, WHICH WAS THAT LORI SPENT A LOT OF TIME FIELDING CALLS FOR THAT FOR RESIDENTS.

THAT THAT'S A BIG ONE BECAUSE HER TIME COULD BE SPENT DOING OTHER THINGS THAN SPENDING SO MUCH TIME THERE.

IN ADDITION TO THAT, I HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF CONCERNS FOR THE FACT THAT, I MEAN, I KEEP HEARING PERFECT STORM, BUT WHENEVER THERE IS A STORM, IT'S THE PERFECT STORM.

AND TRASH KEEPS GETTING MISSED. WHETHER IT IS IN THE SPRINGTIME WHEN WE HAD THOSE STORMS COME THROUGH.

IT SEEMS LIKE IT'S COMING IN WAVES, AND. AND YOU GUYS AREN'T PREPARED.

YOU'RE JUST NOT PREPARED FOR THESE SITUATIONS TO OCCUR.

WE KNOW THAT THAT FALL, NOTHING THAT YOU SAID WAS ANYTHING THAT WAS OUT OF THE ORDINARY WITHOUT THE FACT THAT OF THE SNOWSTORM.

WE DON'T WE CAN'T ANTICIPATE THOSE TRASH BEING, YOU KNOW, WE KNOW IT'S HOLIDAY SEASON.

WE KNOW THAT THERE'S A LOT OF LEAVES, YOU KNOW, THAT'S GOING TO GENERATE A LOT OF TRASH.

AND SO I HAVE CONCERNS WHEN IT COMES TO THAT, NOT ONLY THE TIME THAT'S BEING SPENT, BUT ALSO IN THE COMMUNICATION AS WELL.

THERE ARE OTHER CITIES, NAMELY NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, THAT HAD THEIR INFORMATION OUT ABOUT TRASH COLLECTION BEFORE WE KNEW WHAT WAS GOING ON.

THAT'S AN ISSUE THAT I HAVE GOING FORWARD, BECAUSE ONCE WE DO TELL OUR RESIDENTS WHAT IS GOING ON WITH OUR TRASH PICKUP, WITH YOUR COLLECTIONS, THEY'RE VERY UNDERSTANDING.

I THINK THEY JUST WANT TO KNOW THAT WE HAVE IT UNDER CONTROL AND THAT WE KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON.

THAT'S WHAT THEY WANT TO KNOW. SO THOSE ARE MY BIG ISSUES THAT I'M HAVING RIGHT NOW.

I DON'T KNOW IF OUR CITY MANAGER WOULD LIKE TO ELABORATE ON ANY OF THAT OR.

SURE. AND I THINK, I MEAN, JERRY, I KNOW WE'VE COMMUNICATED DURING, YOU KNOW, THE LAST FEW WEEKS AND I THINK IT'S JUST A FRUSTRATION LEVEL WITH THE RESIDENTS THAT I FELT LIKE WE KIND OF STRUNG PEOPLE ALONG A LITTLE BIT.

THREE WEEKS IS A LONG TIME. WE'VE HAD FOLKS THAT HAVEN'T BEEN PICKED UP FOR THREE WEEKS.

AND AGAIN, I RECOGNIZE THE ISSUES OF, HEY, WE'RE OVERLOADED.

I THINK THAT WE NEED TO WORK ON OUR COMMUNICATION AND GET THE MESSAGE OUT SOONER.

I DON'T KNOW IF WHEN YOU'RE. AND THIS IS SOME, YOU KNOW, KIND OF EDUCATION ON THIS WAY, BUT IF YOUR TRASH TRUCKS GO OUT AND THEY REALIZE WE ARE, THERE IS NO WAY WE CAN GET THROUGH TODAY.

I DON'T KNOW IF THEY CAN. I MEAN, RADIO BACK AND SAY WE HAVE AN ISSUE.

WE ARE. WE ARE OVERLOADED. THERE'S NO WAY THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN.

WE ARE. WE'RE CODE RED AND LET US KNOW SO WE CAN TELL THE CITIZENS.

HERE'S THE PROTOCOL. IF YOU SEE THEM, THEY WILL TAKE YOUR TRASH.

DON'T WORRY ABOUT YOUR LEAVES. LEAVE THOSE OUT. YOU KNOW, I JUST WE'VE GOT TO START TELLING THEM MORE BECAUSE I WE ARE WE'VE BEEN INUNDATED.

AND HONESTLY THE STORM OBVIOUSLY WAS A BIG PIECE, AND THE HOLIDAYS WERE A BIG PIECE.

BUT IN THAT WHAT HAPPENS IS, IT'S PEOPLE THAT HAVE BEEN MISSED KIND OF REGULARLY, AND THEN THEY FINALLY GO, OKAY, I'M CONTINUOUSLY MISSED. AND NOW I'VE BEEN MISSED THREE WEEKS.

YOU KNOW WHAT'S HAPPENING. SO I THINK WE NEED TO KIND OF DECIDE ON KIND OF A MESSAGE AS TO WHEN YOU ALL HIT A POINT, AND YOU KNOW YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE ISSUES. EVERYBODY'S READY TO GO AND WE WILL.

AND LIKE DAN SAID, OUR CITIZENS ARE VERY UNDERSTANDING IF THEY KNOW, BUT IT'S THAT, YOU KNOW.

HEY, LEAVE IT OUT. WE'LL BE THERE TOMORROW AND THEN THEY DON'T COME OR, HEY, LEAVE IT OUT UNTIL HERE AND THEY DON'T COME.

BECAUSE WE CAN'T CONTINUE LIKE THIS. IT'S JUST BEEN, IT'S JUST BEEN WE'VE BEEN INUNDATED.

SO, GETTING EMAILS, I'M GETTING EMAILS ALL, ALL WEEKEND LONG.

AND THEN, OF COURSE, YOU KNOW, LORI WALKS INTO 150 EMAILS SITTING, YOU KNOW, SITTING THERE FOR HER.

SO, WHEN I MET WITH YOU IN DECEMBER, WE IDENTIFIED VERY QUICKLY THAT WE HAD A COMMUNICATION ISSUE.

RIGHT. AND SO ONCE THAT COMMUNICATION ISSUE WAS RESOLVED, THINGS WERE AND CONTINUE TO BE HANDLED OLD, QUICKER, BETTER RESPONSES, BUT IT'S GIVEN US THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE ABLE TO LOOK AT SOME OF THOSE LARGER ROOTS.

IT GAVE ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO GO BACK AND LOOK AT THE INCREASE IN TONNAGE AND WHAT THAT'S MEANING FOR US FROM A STANDPOINT OF TIMING AND HAVING ENOUGH TRUCKS AND ENOUGH PEOPLE. UNFORTUNATELY, WE MET RIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS AND IT AND SO I THINK SINCE THAT TIME, OTHER THAN THE SNOW AND I DON'T CONTROL THE WEATHER AND IT'S KIND OF LIKE THE SPRING, THE SUMMER STORM. YOU KNOW, SOME CITIES CHOSE TO PICK UP FOR RESIDENTS, SOME DID NOT.

REPUBLIC IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DEBRIS. THAT'S CAUSED BY STORMS. AND I THINK WE CAME TO THAT AGREEMENT. RIGHT.

SO UNFORTUNATELY, WE HAD THAT STORM AND THEN WE HAD SOME INCREASE IN VOLUME.

AND THEN WE HAVE THE HOLIDAYS AND THEN. AND SO WE ARE WHERE WE ARE.

YOU'VE BROUGHT IT TO MY ATTENTION. THE COUNCIL'S BROUGHT IT TO MY ATTENTION.

I'M WORKING WITH OUR STAFF. OUR STAFF IS WORKING WITH LORI TO MAKE SURE THAT LORI IS GETTING QUICKER RESPONSES.

I'M SEEING ALL OF THOSE. TRAVIS IS SEEING ALL OF THOSE, AND IT GIVES US AN OPPORTUNITY TO KIND OF STEP BACK AND REGROUP.

I THINK WE WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO REGROUP A LITTLE BIT QUICKER HAD WE NOT HAD LAST THURSDAY AND FRIDAY.

AND I DO THINK WE NEED A RESET. AND I THINK THERE'S SOME, SOME TWEAKS THAT NEED TO BE MADE.

MOST DEFINITELY. IS THERE AN OPPORTUNITY WHEN YOU ALL GET I MEAN, I'M JUST CURIOUS, IS THERE, AND I THINK MAYBE FOLKS ARE TOO. WHEN YOU GET OUT THERE AND YOU START TO SEE AND THE GUYS ARE LIKE, IT'S TAKING US.

AND IF WE'RE IN TROUBLE AND IF WE'RE IN TROUBLE, THEN WE KNOW WE'VE GOT TO GET SUPPORT THAT'S FINISHING IN ANOTHER CITY TO COME.

AND SO WE'RE WE ARE MONITORING THAT AND REPOSITIONING THOSE ASSETS SO THAT WE CAN COME OFF OF THAT.

SO IT WOULDN'T BE IN THE FUTURE, SHOULD I KNOW AT 03:00 THAT THERE'S JUST ABSOLUTELY. I JUST DON'T HAVE ANY ENOUGH ASSETS, THEN ASSETS, THEN YES, WE'RE GOING TO NOTIFY YOU, BUT WE'RE NOT THERE.

IT WOULD HAVE JUST BEEN THE ISSUES CATCHING UP FROM CHRISTMAS. WE WOULD HAVE CAUGHT UP A LOT QUICKER. SO I'M JUST GOING TO TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY WHILE I HAVE YOU HERE.

IF THE LONGER ROUTES INCLUDED THE SOUTH SIDE OF BEDFORD OR I JUST KNOW OUTSIDE OF THESE ISSUES, LIKE IN THE LAST TWO MONTHS, THAT'S BEEN A CONSISTENT CONCERN ABOUT PEOPLE IN DIFFERENT STREETS CLOSE TO MY NEIGHBORHOOD.

AND SO THERE'S BEEN SOME TURNOVER THERE. SO FROM A STANDPOINT OF, OF TRAINING, IT DOES TAKE A GOOD MONTH TO GET A DRIVER USED TO ALL OF THE UPS AND DOWNS AND EBBS AND FLOWS AND ON THE ROUTES. SO, IT DOES TAKE SOME TIME.

TRAVIS AND I ARE. AND THE SUPERVISOR WE WE'RE MONITORING THINGS BECAUSE IF WE START SEEING A LOT OF MISSES ON THE SAME ROUTES, THEN WE KNOW THAT WE HAVE A DRIVER THAT EITHER NEEDS RETRAINING OR NEEDS TO GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

MAYBE ON ANOTHER ROUTE THAT'S, YOU KNOW, A LITTLE EASIER TO DO.

SO, I MEAN, THERE'S A LOT OF THINGS THAT, THAT WE'RE MONITORING.

AGAIN, THAT COMES FROM I WAS KIND OF LEFT OUT OF THE COMMUNICATION PIECE OF IT.

SO SPECIFICALLY, OUR WINTER WEATHER IS UNPREDICTABLE, AS IS WHAT, OUR SPRING.

THEY WEREN'T AFFECTED BY A WINTER STORM. SO WE GOT THOSE FOUR SOS DRIVERS. WE COULD BE MORE PROACTIVE IN THAT, KNOWING THAT IT TAKES THREE, FOUR, FIVE DAYS FOR THEM TO GET THOSE SOS DRIVERS TO US.

YOU KNOW, THEY HAVE TO FINISH WHAT THEY'RE DOING. YOU HAVE TO HAVE YOUR CERTAIN HOURS OF DRIVING AND WITHOUT DRIVING TO FALL UNDER THE DOT REGULATIONS.

SO, IT IS A TIMELY PROCESS THAT WE COULD ABSOLUTELY BE MORE, MORE PROACTIVE ABOUT IF WE SEE AN UPCOMING STORM LIKE THAT.

AND WE KNOW, YOU KNOW, IF WE'RE GOING TO BE STRUGGLING BECAUSE WE SEE AN INCREASE IN TONNAGES, THEN OBVIOUSLY GOING FORWARD WE WILL LOOK INTO GETTING THE SUPPORT. SO I DON'T THINK IT IS A SECRET THAT OUR CURRENT CHRISTMAS TREE IS 20 YEARS OLD AND STARTING TO EXPERIENCE SOME MAINTENANCE ISSUES, SO CURRENTLY FRAME IS BENT. IT'S BEEN THROUGH SOME STORMS AND EXPERIENCED THE WEAR AND TEAR OF BEING PUT UP AND DOWN FOR 20 YEARS.

WE ALSO ARE DEALING WITH LIGHT OUTAGES ON THAT, AND OUR GROUP HAVING TO REPAIR NEEDLES ARE FALLING OFF AND THE TREE IS THINNING AS WELL AS AS WELL AS WIRING ISSUES. SO OUR GROUP HAS REALLY BEEN WORKING HARD TO MAKE THAT TREE LOOK PRESENTABLE.

IT IS PROBABLY TIME TO MOVE ON TO A NEWER TREE.

SO JUST TO KIND OF OUTLINE A COUPLE CHANGES, OBVIOUSLY TECHNOLOGY CHANGES, THINGS GET BETTER.

THE CURRENT TREE IS ABOUT 35, 38FT WITH A SIX FOOT TOPPER, AND IT HAS A TOTAL HEIGHT OF 44FT.

OUR NEW TREE WILL BE 46FT WITH AN EIGHT FOOT TOPPER, THEN FOR A TOTAL OF 54FT.

SO IT WILL BE A LARGER TREE, A BIGGER PRESENCE, AND ADDITIONALLY IT WILL MORE THAN DOUBLE THE NUMBER OF LED LIGHTS.

THE CURRENT TREE THAT WE HAVE RIGHT NOW IS ABOUT 2000, AND IT WILL BE GROWING TO 4500.

SO AGAIN, THAT ALSO HAS THAT THAT ABILITY TO BE EXPANDED.

IF WE WANT TO GROW IT, WE CAN ACTUALLY MAKE THE TREE LARGER AND TALLER AND PURCHASE ADDITIONAL KIND OF ADD ONS TO THAT.

THIS WILL GIVE PD A POOL OF BUSINESSES FROM WHICH TO CHOOSE.

AND ALSO AS FAR AS INVENTORY GOES, IT GIVES THEM OPTIONS.

ITEM NUMBER FIVE CONSIDER A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR HER DESIGNEE TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH SAND PACKS FIVE STAR FORD OF CARROLLTON FOR THE PURCHASE OF TWO 2024 FORD F-150 FOUR DOOR PICKUP TRUCKS THROUGH A MASTER COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT WITH GAC AND AN ESTIMATED AMOUNT OF $165,248, WHICH INCLUDES OUTFITTING EACH VEHICLE AND RELATED EQUIPMENT.

CURRENTLY THOSE TWO WE HAD TWO VEHICLES THAT WERE UTILIZED BY OUR TWO TO DEPUTY FIRE CHIEFS.

THE ONE INCIDENT. THE ONE VEHICLE WAS IN AN ACCIDENT.

IT WAS TOTALED. THE CITY IS HAS RECEIVED $8,900 FOR THE VEHICLE FUNDS ON THAT.

WE'RE THEN GOING AHEAD AND PLACED IN THE VEHICLE REPLACEMENT FUND, WHICH IS AGAIN THE FUND WE'RE TRYING TO BUILD THERE.

AS FAR AS THE PURCHASE OF VEHICLES GOING FORWARD.

ESSENTIALLY, THE OTHER VEHICLE IS NINE YEARS OLD, SO FIRE WILL BE TURNING THAT BACK INTO FLEET.

HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE HAS OVER 107,000 MILES AND HAS QUITE A FEW MECHANICAL ISSUES, SO IT IS NOT REALLY PLANNED TO REPURPOSE THAT WITHIN THE ORGANIZATION.

IT WILL EITHER BE SOLD, AUCTIONED OFF, OR TRADED.

AND THEN IF TRADED, THAT AMOUNT WILL BE OFFSET ON THE PURCHASE PRICE OF THE THE NEW TRUCKS.

SO I KNOW THE THE NUMBER HAS BEEN DISCUSSED AS FAR AS THE PRICING ON THIS.

AND AGAIN THESE ARE TRUCKS THAT ARE THERE IS A BASE OBVIOUSLY A BASE PRICE TO THESE.

AND AGAIN, THAT AMOUNT THEN IS DIVIDED AMONG TWO AGREEMENTS WITH 491,526 STAYING WITH THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT INCENTIVE AGREEMENT, WHICH WAS ALREADY APPROVED. AND NOW THE PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT WILL CONTRIBUTE $665,974.

THAT ALLOWED US TO HAVE AN APPROPRIATE REACTION TO THE LARGE AMOUNT OF MOSQUITO POSITIVE SAMPLES WE'RE HAVING AT THE TIME.

PAST THAT POINT, WE HAD NO POSITIVE SAMPLES FOR WEST NILE VIRUS IN BEDFORD.

SO GOING INTO THE REVISIONS THE FIRST I WANT TO START WITH IS OUR TRAP SITES.

THE REVISION TAKES AWAY THE NUMBER OF TRAP SITES IN THE PLAN TO ALLOW FOR FLEXIBILITY.

SEASON TO SEASON. AS YOU KNOW, WE DO PARTNER WITH THE TARRANT COUNTY HEALTH DISTRICT FOR SUPPORT IN THE PLAN. THEY PROVIDE ALL THE TRAPS AS WELL AS ANY SAMPLING AND COUNTING FOR MOSQUITO SAMPLES.

THEY ARE BOUND BY THEIR OWN EXCUSE ME. BUDGETS AND THESE TEND TO CHANGE YEAR TO YEAR. WHICH WOULD RESTRICT THEM FROM TAKING CERTAIN NUMBER OF SAMPLE SITES EACH WEEK.

SO BEING ABLE TO STAY FLEXIBLE WITH THE AMOUNT OF SAMPLES THAT WE ARE ABLE TO SEND TO THEM FROM THE NUMBER OF TRAPS WE'RE PUTTING OUT, WOULD BE BEHOOVE US. WE ALSO REVISED THE MAP TO TRANSITION FROM RADIAL-TO-RADIAL SITES TO ZONES. AS YOU SEE HERE THIS IS A MAP OF THE CITY WITH A MORE ENCOMPASSING AREA.

BEFORE WE HAD SITES THAT WOULD LEAVE OUT LARGE PARTS OF THE CITY.

SO WE DO NEED TO LOOK AT THOSE. SO WE WENT BACK AND LOOKED AT IT.

AND YOU KNOW, ESSENTIALLY IT WAS A TYPO. AND HONESTLY, YOU KNOW, SO IT WAS INTENDED TO BE $75, WHICH IS OUR MINIMUM PERMIT FEE PER PERMIT. AND SO, AS WE LOOKED AT THAT, WE KIND OF DOVE IN A LITTLE FURTHER AND REALIZED THE NUMBER OF PERMITS THAT WOULD COME IN ON THAT WOULD BE NOMINAL.

AND OUR WHOLE GOAL HERE IS TO OBVIOUSLY ENCOURAGE RENOVATION AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY.

SO WE DIDN'T WANT TO BE ANY KIND OF DETERRENT TO THAT.
