AND OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS, WE'VE DETERMINED THAT THERE'S SOME NEAT, NEAT THINGS THAT NEED TO BE UPDATED IN THIS ORDINANCE.

UM, ONE WAS PROVIDE MORE FLEXIBILITY WHEN APPOINTING ALTERNATES.

WE'VE HAD A COUPLE OF VACANCIES DUE TO PEOPLE MOVING OUT OF TOWN OR, OR NOT BEING ABLE TO PARTICIPATE ANYMORE.

AND THAT'S CAUSED US SOME ISSUES WITH, UM, HAVING PEOPLE TO CONDUCT A MEETING.

UH, ONE THING THAT'S INTERESTING ABOUT BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT IS THAT WHEN YOU'RE GRANTING VARIANCES, IT HAS TO BE OF A SUPER MAJORITY, WHICH MEANS YOU NEED FOUR PEOPLE IN ORDER TO GRANT THE VARIANCE.

AND RIGHT NOW WE ONLY HAVE FOUR MEMBERS THAT HAVE BEEN APPOINTED.

SO IT'S KIND OF UNFAIR TO THE APPLICANT ASKING IF HE'S ONLY IF HE'S GOING TO MAKE EVERYBODY ON THE BOARD HAPPY AT ONE TIME.

SO THAT'S WHY WE'VE TRIED TO GET ALTERNATIVES TO THAT'S WHEN WE TRY TO HAVE SEVEN MEMBERS AT ALL TIMES.

UM, SO WHAT THIS AMENDMENT DOES IS IT PROVIDES A LITTLE BIT MORE FLEXIBILITY AND ALLOWS US TO STEAL FROM BUILDING STANDARDS AND COMMISSIONS, UH, BUILDING BUILDINGS DEVASTATING THAT RIGHT.

INTERESTING THING IS RIGHT NOW, THE BUILDING AND SENIORS COMMISSION CAN STEAL FROM ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT IS ONLY MORE JUST WHAT CAGES CAN'T STEAL FROM THEM.

SO WE'RE KIND OF PUTTING ON AN EQUAL PLAYING FIELD IN THAT CASE.

UM, SECOND AMENDMENT ON THIS WAS TO ADJUST THE TIMEFRAME FOR APPEAL OF INTERPRETATIONS BY ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICIAL.

RIGHT NOW OUR ORDINANCE SAYS THAT THE APPLICANT HAS 60 DAYS TO APPEAL A DECISION OF STAFF.

UM, STATE LAW SAYS IT'S 20 DAYS, SO WE'RE JUST TYING IT UP WITH WHAT STATE LAW SAYS.

AND THEN NUMBER THREE WAS TO CLEAR UP SOME LANGUAGE AS IT RELATES TO THE PUBLIC NOTICE REQUIREMENTS FOR VARIANCES.

UH, THERE WAS AN INCORRECT REFERENCE TO, UH, IN THE ORDINANCE, AS IT STATES TODAY AS TO WHERE TO GO TO FIND PUBLIC NOTICE REQUIREMENTS.

WE'RE JUST CLEANING THAT UP AND WE'RE JUST MIRRORING IT TO THE SAME NOTICE REQUIREMENTS OF THAT AS A ZONING CHANGE, I CAN ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS.

YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS FOR STAFF IF I'M LOOKING AT THE RED LINE UNDER SIX FOR A ESTABLISHMENT OF A BOARD.

UH, WHY IS IT A PAIN Z COMMISSIONED FUNCTION TO CHANGE THE STRUCTURE OF BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT? HOW DOES THAT MESH TOGETHER? TYPICALLY YOU FIND THE REGULATIONS FOR BORDERLINE IN THE ZONING ORDINANCE AND SINCE IT'S IN THE ZONING ORDINANCE, IT'S ANY AMENDMENT TO THOSE ON WARNINGS HAS TO HAVE A RECOMMENDATION BY THIS BODY.

AND THEN IT GOES TO CITY COUNCIL FOR FINAL APPROVAL.

UM, SO WHEN THE, UM, ZONING BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS MEETING IS SET, DO YOU, WILL YOU NOTIFY THE BUILDING STANDARDS MEMBERS ALSO OF THE MEETINGS SO THAT THEY CAN SHOW UP? OR HOW IS THAT WORKING? WHEN I ENVISION US DOING AND ANDREW CORRECT ME IF YOU HAVE A DIFFERENT IDEA, BUT MY THOUGHT IS THAT WE'LL ONLY CONTACT BOARD BILL BUILDING STANDARDS COMMISSION.

HE TRIES TO KIND OF TAKE TURNS ON WHO HE REACHES OUT TO, UM, IN ORDER TO GET HIS QUORUM.

AS WE BUILD OUT, I THINK THINGS ARE JUST GOING TO GET A LITTLE MORE TECHNICAL AND A LITTLE MESSY, THE PROPERTIES THAT ARE REMAINING, UM, HAVE BEEN SKIPPED OVER FOR A REASON.

AND SO SOME OF THOSE DEVELOPMENTS AND THAT'S JUST THAT, THAT'S JUST THE NATURE OF IT.
